Hometown: Wuhan, China

Learning to Analyze Your Data in R- Workshop 2
Who: Anyone on campus
What: Learn how to use R in your data analysis! 
The October webinar will cover Data Joining and Tidying.

When: The second workshop will be held Thursday, October 24th, 3:30-5pm

Standard Process Research Studies- Recruiting Participants
Research Study 1:
  • Who: Men and women ages 25-55 who have experienced a new onset of lower back pain
  • What: Research on the effects of chiropractic care on brain wave and and muscular activity. Participants will receive chiropractic care 2 times per week for 4 weeks, and be evaluated with an EEG and a surface EMG before and after treatment.
  • Why: earn up to $250!

NCRC Campus Sports Night!

Who: Everyone. Bring your friends and family!
What: Join us for some indoor sports (basketball, volleyball, etc.). All equipment provided.

When: Tuesday, October 15th, 6:30 - 7:30pm
Where: Kannapolis Middle School, 1000 Virginia Dare Street
What to do: Show up! Gym rent will be split among participants - last time everyone paid $3 per person.

Finding Hope (and a Job) in Washington D.C.- Insights from a Nutrition Policy Expert
Who: Jerold Mande, Professor  in Nutrition at Tufts University has decades of experience in writing and implementing policy at the FDA, USDA, White House, and Congress
What
: A discussion of federal nutrition policy. Learn about main players in nutrition policy in Washington, D.C., updates on major nutrition policy initiatives, and tips for how to get a federal job and have an outsized impact on public health.
When: Thursday, October 24th, 3:30-4:30pm
Where: NRI room 2201
What to do: Just show up!
Duke Dash 5k and Healthfest
What: 5k race and activities including Kids Fun Run, Walk With A Doc, Zumba, line dancing, face painting, photo booth, make your own trail mix, and medication drop-off for expired prescriptions. Plus, great local vendors!

Where: NCRC
When: October 12th, 9am
What to do: Register  here. Registration is $20. The first 200 registered runners get a T-shirt.
