Learn to Analyze Your Data in R - Using Functions
Who: Everyone on campus
WhatLearn how to use R in your data analysis!  This month's webinar will focus on using functions in R, as well as exploring options for getting help while using R.
When: Wednesday, January 22nd, 3:30-5pm. All workshops will be held on Wednesdays this Spring. 
Where
: NRI Room 1331

What to do: Register  here. Registration will close on January 20th. Please bring your own laptop. We will have charging stations.

If you can not attend the workshop, please contact Catalyst for alternative arrangements. 
Brewery Social Event 
Who: Everyone!
What: Come check out the new brewery in Kannapolis and catch up with friends in the new year. We will provide company and light refreshments. Everyone is responsible for their own tab. 

When: Thursday, January 23rd, 5:30pm - ?
Where: Old Armor Beer Company. 211 West Ave, Kannapolis, NC
What to do: Just show up!
Meditation Classes
What: Join Eddie Serano for lessons in meditation and an opportunity to improve your state of mind!
Who: The class is capped at 10 new students. Those who took the class last spring are welcome to join again, but should bring their book from last spring.
When: Classes will be on Tuesdays starting at 5:30pm with a flexible end time to allow for the freedom to meditate. Classes will likely start on January 28th and run throughout the spring.
Where: NRI room 1201

Statistics Seminars Survey - Spring 2020
Who: Everyone on campus!
WhatFor the NCRC campus to review Statistical methods and their application to a variety of Omics datasets.
Where: TBA
When: This spring! Seminars will be held monthly and dates will be announced in advance.

What to do: Fill out the survey here to help us decide which topics to cover. 
NCRC Game Night - TOMORROW
Who: All employees of the NCRC and their guests 
What: Board and card games, social camraderie, fun, and pizza!
When: TOMORROW, Friday, January 10th, 5:15-10:00pm (you are welcome to drop in late or leave early)
Where: The NRI cafe

RSVPing is highly encouraged (it helps in planning what games to bring). You may email Scott at  scottj@unc.edu or stop by his office with your intention to attend. If you’d like to chip in for pizza (only paying attendees are guaranteed pizza, Giovanni’s), please bring cash ($5 minimum) by Scott (or Walden Cash's) office by 5pm on Thursday, 1/9. With your money, provide your choice of toppings (or toppings you don't want if you have  dietary restrictions).  Bringing your own games is also encouraged as long as you are willing to teach how to play them!

Featured Game: Distant islands with golden treasures — who hasn't dreamed of that?!  Silver & Gold combines simple rules, fast action, luck, and planning as players try to complete treasure map after treasure map, with the maps being printed on wipeable cards to allow for endless adventures...
